Nourish Your Soul

Yea, we all could use a little mercy now

I know we don’t deserve it but we need it anyhow

We hang in the balance, dangle ‘tween hell and hallowed ground

Every single one of us could use some mercy now

[lyrics from a song Steve Bell performed]

Dear Friends,

In December, I was once again refreshed for another year of ministry. Laura and I went and heard a Steve Bell concert.

We got introduced to Steve’s music about 11 years ago shortly after we arrived in Calgary. Some members of our congregation bought us tickets as a gift and took us. It was an evening of amazing music and meaningful, humorous storytelling. For eleven years, we’ve been going to hear Steve Bell whenever he comes to Calgary.

We found out that a congregation could get on the waiting list to have Steve Bell perform a concert at their church. We did that and after 4 years, Steve came and did a concert/workshop at Church of the Cross. At the concert in December, Laura invited some members of Emmanuel Community Church (ELCIC) to come to the concert. They were so moved by him and his music that they immediately requested to have him come and do a concert at their church… Two weeks later, he announced that he would do a concert in February! (I’m a little envious).

If you are looking for something to do Friday night…

If you want to hear some beautiful guitar playing and singing…

If you could use some storytelling that restores your faith in God and humanity…

If you feel inclined to support another Lutheran congregation by attending one of their events…

If your soul is hurting…

Treat yourself to a Steve Bell concert this Friday night:
