POWER ZONE

Power Zone Sunday School is for children 3 years through grade 6.  All children are welcome to join us for a fun time exploring Bible stories in a variety of different ways using our new lectionary-based curriculum "Whirl".
Power Zone takes place during Sunday worship services.

Coming up in PowerZone…
Faith Practices

Way back in 2000, the ELCA (our sister Lutheran body in the United States) began an initiative named, A Call to Discipleship. As part of this call, one of the questions they answered was, What does a Christian do? Their answer (as gleaned from Scripture and what Jesus modeled) was what they call the Seven Faith Practices:

WORSHIP, PRAY, STUDY, SERVE, GIVE, ENCOURAGE and INVITE.

During our 7-week Jesus Radio Superstar worship series (from Sept. 8th-Oct. 20th), we will not be following the Revised Common Lectionary (a 3-year schedule of scripture readings used by most mainline denominations). Since there are seven Faith Practices, it seemed like a good opportunity to focus on those! Each of the Children’s Messages will be based on scripture that lifts up a faith practice for the week and the activities in PowerZone will continue that emphasis.

MISSION

WORSHIP

Our mission is to partner with families and the congregation to develop each child’s faith in Jesus Christ as a child of God.  The youngest members of our faith community enjoy a great diversity of programs that teach Christian values and promote community.

Children are invited to participate in all aspects of worship: helping as readers, communion assistants, drama, music and dance. Clipboards for colouring and activity packs with scripture based bulletins are available.
